Absorption Chiller

1.Overview
A refrigerator that completes the refrigeration cycle by the action of the absorber-generator group. It uses a binary solution as the working fluid, in which the low-boiling-point component is used as the refrigerant, that is, its evaporation is used for refrigeration; the high-boiling-point component is used as the absorbent, that is, its absorption of the refrigerant vapor is used to complete the working cycle. The absorption refrigerator is mainly composed of several heat exchangers. Commonly used absorption refrigerators are ammonia absorption refrigerators and lithium bromide absorption refrigerators.
2.Classification
2.1.Ammonia absorption refrigerator
Use ammonia solution as the working fluid, in which ammonia is used as the refrigerant and water is used as the absorbent. Ammonia absorption refrigerators can be used for refrigeration and industrial production processes due to their low evaporation temperature, and have been widely used in the chemical industry. However, this type of refrigerator is bulky, consumes a lot of metal, and requires the use of high-pressure heating steam; and ammonia is toxic and corrosive to non-ferrous metals, so its application is decreasing.
2.2.Lithium bromide absorption refrigerator
It uses lithium bromide aqueous solution as the working fluid, in which water is the refrigerant and lithium bromide is the absorbent. Lithium bromide belongs to the salt class, is a white crystal, easily soluble in water and alcohol, non-toxic, chemically stable, and will not deteriorate. When there is air in the lithium bromide aqueous solution, it is highly corrosive to steel. Because lithium bromide absorption refrigerators use water as the refrigerant and the evaporation temperature is above 0°C, they can only be used for air conditioning equipment and the preparation of cold water for production processes. This type of refrigerator can use low-pressure steam or hot water above 75°C as a heat source, so it plays an important role in the utilization of waste gas, waste heat, solar energy and low-temperature heat energy.
